Why I work with HCM
I am motivated daily by my passionate colleagues, who are steadfast in their pursuit of improving the lives of communities, patients and students across the country. I am motivated daily by HCM’s clients and their individual missions. I am motivated daily by knowing that our successes translate to positive change in America.
As a senior associate, Nicky Borselli brings to HCM Strategists a lifelong passion for giving back to communities and improving the lives of their residents. Raised in Phoenix, Arizona alongside his brother, Nicky spent his formative years in the city’s Boys and Girls Club, where his mother worked until her retirement. The Boys and Girls Club instilled in Nicky a strong sense of civic responsibility and the first-hand knowledge of the positive difference an institution can have on individual lives.
Nicky remained connected to the Boys and Girls Club, working in his home club during his college years at Arizona State University (ASU). After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in sociology, he joined the staff of Phoenix City Councilman Tom Simplot. As a council aide and policy advisor, Nicky advanced the councilman’s agenda of constituent service and community improvement. This experience inspired Nicky to pursue his master’s degree in public policy at ASU, after which his boss and mentor encouraged him to expand his policy pursuits by moving cross-country to Washington, D.C.
Once in Washington, Nicky joined the staff of Rep. Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona, where his legislative responsibilities included health care policy during the implementation of the Affordable Care Act. His work on health reform issues impressed upon him the universal importance of health care and validated his belief in the power of public policy to positively impact people’s lives.
At HCM, Nicky lends his enthusiasm and policy know-how to the firm’s health clients, working to provide patients access to better care and a greater voice in policy debates. To that end, he collaborates with academic institutions, scientists, provider associations and patient groups to develop legislative and social media strategies to advance clients’ policy goals. Nicky enjoys working with innovative companies in the health space to provide safer, cleaner systems and care environments that promote quality for both patients and staff.
Nicky resides in Washington, D.C., where he wears the mantle of Arizona’s professional sports teams, cheering loudly for the Arizona Cardinals and the Phoenix Suns.
