Nicole Brown
DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS
As Director of Communications at HCM, Nicole Brown leads the firm's strategic communications efforts, strengthening HCM's brand and thought leadership while supporting staff, firm leadership, and clients across the education policy landscape. She oversees integrated communications strategies, media relations, and digital and print content, helping translate complex policy issues into clear, compelling messages for diverse audiences.
Before joining HCM, Nicole worked as an independent education communications consultant, partnering with schools, nonprofits, and mission-driven organizations to develop strategic communications plans, lead media and stakeholder engagement, and manage print and digital communications that advanced organizational goals and increased visibility. Throughout her career, she has held communications leadership roles across the education sector, supporting institutions through strategic planning, storytelling, public relations, and organizational communications.
Prior to focusing on education, Nicole worked in publishing and with family-focused nonprofit organizations. The daughter of a retired public school English teacher, she is a strong advocate for public education and equitable policies that support students, educators, and communities.
Nicole holds dual bachelor's degrees in Journalism and International Communication from the University of Texas at Austin. Outside of work, she enjoys exploring the Texas Hill Country with her husband and two children.
