Why I work with HCM

I work with HCM because of the people. Both the people at the client side of our work–the patients and students that HCM strives to serve each day, as well as the people within the firm–those committed to taking on the hard issues, because they matter. I am proud to work with those who are passionate and genuine in their drive to make the world a better place.

Jessica Hunt

Director, Organizational Improvement

Jessica Hunt brings a unique educational and professional perspective to HCM Strategists. A graduate of the College of William and Mary with a bachelor’s degree in English and a minor in marketing, Jessica received a homeschool primary and secondary education. During her middle school years, she complemented her homeschooling with enrichment programs and later enrolled in local community college courses to earn college credit toward her bachelor’s degree. This background gave her a better appreciation for the importance, not only of higher education, but higher education options that are both nontraditional and flexible. The diversity of her educational activities also instilled in Jessica the importance of organization and accountability – skills she continues to use both in project management and to help keep the operations of HCM on track.

Jessica began working with HCM in the firm’s early days as their first administrative assistant, moving later into event management and logistics planning before receiving a promotion to project manager. For the last six years, Jessica has served as an integral member of HCM’s administrative leadership team, most recently in her role as director of human resources and administration. As director of HR, she managed all firm-wide employee relations initiatives including policy development, workplace culture management, onboarding and benefits and much more. Transitioning once again, Jessica now serves as HCM’s director of operational improvement, which entails collaborating with senior leadership to provide strategic counsel from an operational perspective to firm leadership; supporting budgetary projects and management of the firm’s operations; and assisting in the resource management and staffing strategists for various projects across the firm.

Before joining HCM, Jessica served as a media intern at POLITICO, where her duties included producing TV hits, conducting interviews and video editing.

Jessica is an avid reader and cook and is always trying new recipes out on her family. She recently moved with her husband and four children from the D.C.-area back to her hometown of Norfolk, Virginia, where she gleefully visits the beach as often as she can.
