HCM’s Senior Affiliate Jocelyn Pickford Named a 2023 National Voices Fellow

The 2023 cohort of National Voices Fellows is a cornerstone of 50CAN’s efforts to build the American education system of the future.

Bringing together leaders from across political and geographic divides, the fellowship hones participants’ communications, policy and advocacy skills to emerge as national education leaders and storytellers, committed to a system that is far more open, interconnected and student-centered.

Jocelyn Pickford is one of 14 recipients named as a 2023 National Voices Fellow.

Jocelyn Pickford is an education policy and communications specialist focused on understanding and promoting practitioner-informed policies across the private, public and non-profit sectors as a Senior Affiliate with HCM Strategists. She began her career in education as a high school English teacher in a regular and special education inclusion classroom and is now a public and private school parent and recent member of her district school board. Previously, Jocelyn led the design, launch and implementation of the School Ambassador Fellowship at the U.S. Department of Education to integrate teachers into the national education policy dialogue.

Based on her experiences as a school board member, former educator, and policy expert, Jocelyn provides expert commentary and stories for the Curriculum A-B-C blog on how high-quality curriculum can drive student progress and set educators up for success. The blog is featured on Curriculum HQ, a project of the Collaborative for Student Success, that provides resources for state access to high-quality instruction materials. The Collaborative is a national nonprofit committed to high academic standards and high-quality, algined assessments and learning materials. They launched Curriculum HQ because they believe high-quality instructional materials are critical to the success of students, teachers, and parents alike – and that communities should have accessible information on what materials schools, districts, and states provide to educators.
