Terrell Halaska to Moderate ASU GSV Summit 2016 Panel "Business as a Force for Good: Introducing B Corps and Higher Education"

Moderated by HCM Partner Terrell Halaska, this session will explore how higher education institutions can participate in the global movement led by Certified B Corporations to use business as a force for good. Over the past two years B Lab, the nonprofit organization behind B Corporations, has been developing robust voluntary assessment tools specifically for higher education and the educational community, with the ASU-GSV conference being the first public unveiling of the project.

Hear from B Lab and others, including the first Certified B Corp in Higher Education, Laureate Education, as they discuss insights into the development of and experience with B Corp Standards in higher education and future opportunities for other companies to participate. The session is open to anyone interested in learning more about how to use business as force for good, but will be focused on higher education and therefore particularly useful for higher educational institutions (including both for-profits and non-profits) as well as intermediaries. B Lab will also share information on their broader work in education and educational services.

PANELISTS:

  • Rick Alexander, Head of Legal Policy, B Lab

  • Eric Riedel, Chief Academic Officer, Walden University

  • Denise Dezolt, Senior Vice President Academic Quality and Accreditation, Laureate Education

  • Timothy Renick, Vice Provost, Georgia State University
