Celebrating the Success of the National LEVEL UP Webinar
News
Held on September 12, the National LEVEL UP Webinar focused on tackling the critical issues of addressing systemic barriers to Black enrollment and retention in higher education. Dr. Keith Curry, President and CEO of Compton College, skillfully moderated the session, guiding an esteemed panel of experts through a thought-provoking discussion centered on strategies to enhance outcomes for Black learners.
We are deeply grateful to the panelists who brought their expertise and insights to the conversation, making it both informative and impactful: Dr. Keith Curry, Saúl Valdez, Francesca Carpenter, Dr. Sunita "Sunny" Cooke, Juan Salgado, Joseph Rice, Dr. Kimberly Beatty, Stephanie Marken, and Kelley Ditzel, PhD. Their contributions shed light on both the challenges and opportunities facing Black learners, offering practical guidance for educators, policymakers, and institutional leaders seeking to make meaningful change.
We would also like to extend our appreciation to our co-sponsors—Equity Avengers, Gallup, Achieving the Dream, Georgia Partnership for Excellence in Education, and the Institute for Educational Leadership (IEL)—whose collaboration helped bring this event to life and support the LEVEL UP mission of improving equity in education.
If you were unable to attend or wish to revisit the rich discussions, the full webinar is available for replay. HCM remains steadfast in our commitment to advancing equitable access, retention, and success for Black learners in higher education.
