HCM + CHEPP Release New Policy Paper on Improving College Credit Transfer
Today, the Center for Higher Education Policy and Practice (CHEPP) has released its latest policy paper, "Improving College Credit Transfer: Policy Recommendations," which explores how higher education institutions can create a more streamlined credit transfer process for learners. This paper emphasizes the policies that can support the successful transfer of college credits and reduce barriers for students re-entering higher education or transferring between institutions.
Seamless credit transfer systems can help students save time and resources while increasing their chances of degree completion. However, many learners continue to face challenges during the transfer process. CHEPP’s policy paper highlights key recommendations to address these challenges, ensuring more equitable access to higher education benefits.
About the Paper
This policy paper provides a detailed analysis of the current barriers within credit transfer systems and outlines policy recommendations for creating more seamless pathways for learners. It also includes three institutional case studies, offering insights into how certain higher education systems are implementing learner-friendly transfer processes. Additionally, the paper presents stories from students who have faced these transfer challenges, illustrating the human impact of credit transfer barriers.
This is the second policy paper in the ongoing partnership between HCM and CHEPP. We are proud to support this important work, contributing to the consideration and development of recommendations that make education more accessible to all learners.
